I've been looking for Swedish learner's dictionaries on the model of the corpus-based Cambridge, Longman's, Oxford, Collins etc learner's dictionaries in English. About 10000-15000 entries, definitions in simple language (e.g. laett svenska), grammatical information, pronunciation (Swedish g and o can be a problem), collocations, phrasal verbs, etc. Sweden has thousands of immigrants and they do a lot to introduce the new Swedes. Hi. Norstedts dictionaries are excellent. They maybe bigger than what you need, but they have everything. I think they also have some smaller dictionaries too, for simpler needs. I would check them out.

If you're serious, it is really worth the extra cost of buying the big ones -- you end up buying the bigger dictionaries anyway, because nothing is so frustrating as using a dictionary that is too small. Half the words are not there at all, and if they are, some of the meanings have been left out to save space, or the explanations are inadequate.
'Skribent', also from Norstedts, is an excellent CD-dictionary that is very reasonably priced for what you get. You need an extra CD (tillaeggsmodul) for English-Swedish-English or other languages, but the combination is very good for my needs - I'm trained to translate Danish to English, and not a Swedish specialist, but I get by with help from friends and family (and kindly KudoZ answerers!)
I was lucky to get Engstroem SE-EN and Gullberg's Fackordbok SE-EN (2 volumes) slightly second-hand at very favourable prices... Believe me, nothing is too advanced!
