Slow reaction times in Transit

I installed two copies of Transit in a company - one lattop, one desktop in the same room (they are only used a few times a year to translate the financial reports).
They share the same references files and dictionaries which are on the normal departmental server.

Unfortunately the concordance searches and time between segments when you are translating is very very slow.

It has become a bit better since I reorganiszed the references folder but it is still very slow.

Any ideas to make it better?

Would it be a good idea to create our own network simply by linking up the two computers?

Any help would be great?

Simple solution? Dec 10, 2008

If you are only working with transit a couple of times a year, the 'quick fix' might be copying the necessary reference files and dictionaries to the laptop or desktop and work from there.
Once the translation is done, any updated files/dictionaries can be returned to the departmental server.
