I have some beginner questions regarding Transit tags.
I learned to move tags, but unfortunately I made some great mistakes:
I found some tags that were inside a word e.g.:

I>ONICIONIC

Tag manipulation Feb 24, 2007

Hi RuSziNo

If you disable tag protection (View > Display/Hide Attributes > Display full tags + deactivate tag protection) you can manipulate the tags. Note that you have to do this for the target and the source windows, depending on what you want to do. To edit the source text, put the cursor in the source text window to activate it and then click on View > Read only (a toggle, you should repeat this to lock the text again afterwards).

Sometimes you get tags in the middle of a word. This is usually caused by special formating in the original (e.g. block text or optional hyphenations) or if the author has been careless and not put the entire word in italics/bold etc. (which is what I think has happened here, see below). If you have the source text, take a look at it to see what the tag is supposed to be doing.

In my version (German/English) the tag is to switch italics on/off. It looks as through the word has been incorrectly formated. In this case, either put the rest of the word within the tag or take out the part which shouldn't be italicised.

Hope this helps
Jill
