I couldn't find any preference setting for this nor any INI file that would allow me to do that. Transit just goes to it's own-decided location, which is not where my work is organized.

Transit saves all the projects in its predefined location, which is usually the folder named 'projects', in C/Programs.
This is decided when you first install the program.
You should have specified your preferred location at that time. Of course you can decide to uninstall the program and reinstall it now. You'll have to pay attention during the installation procedure to change and select your preferred location... See more

I don't mind Transit saving all the project-related files in C/Programs (which is not where all my work is saved), because these are files which I don't really need (expect in 'emergency' cases). To draw a parallel, this can be compared to Trados saving all the TM files in C/Programs.

What is important is the option 'Export project'. This is the file you're going to send to your customer. When you export your project, Transit asks you where you want to save your file (as in any other program).
