I'm using nitro pdf... Dec 17, 2005

as a as-close-as-it-gets Adobe writer clone:

it is good. On top of Adobe (g) it has word export, which does what it is supposed to do.

I see two issues with PDF files:

a) graphic rubish: I would like to keep it out of my hair as much as possible. I have yet to find a way to see that happen

b) "it's pdf even if it just jpgs" problem: I had cases - too many to feel comfortable - where the agency just put pages and pages of scanned ... oh well ... prints, handnotes, hand-corrected prints, you name it, into one single PDF file. Means, it could be a PDF file. Or it could be a PDF file.
