I find this article very useful for beginners on ProZ.com. I would have liked to read such an article a year ago when I first heard (!!) about ProZ.com, when I really did not know where to start from. It took me quite a lot of time (several weeks) to understand the whole 'philosophy' of ProZ.com. So, I could say this article reminds me of my first days on ProZ.com when I felt I would never be able to understand everything about it. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to have it recommended to new ProZ.com members.

Bid vs Quote May 1, 2007

My mistake. I know the difference between bid and quote but I have used the terms interchangeably.

If you wish to get technical then what I really do is make an offer. I do not find a box on proz.com that states "offer".

Then the offer is either accepted, rejected or a counter offer is made.

When an offer is accepted, you have made a market.

So, I wil use the proper terminology when your website permits it.

Thank You,
