Well, I thought it would be interesting...

I suggested it, and here it is.

There are so many issues: associations, qualifications, controversy about court and police interpreters, agencies paying dismaying low rates...

This is my bit.

Saludos,
M.

English or Spanish Jun 4, 2008

Do we speak English or Spanish or both in this forum?

Good idea as there are often questions about being an autónomo/a in Spain, not to mention the generally low rates offered by agencies in Spain - even if the language combination is English - Dutch.

Saludos de Asturias

Why do we have this forum when there is already an active Spanish monolingual forum? I'm not anti this one, I just want to know what the thinking is.

Lexical,

There are humongous differences between Spain and Latin America on the issues above-named.

Further, language can be quite different too, particularly as regards to neologisms, false friends, synonyms, and so on.

I guess the language should be English Jun 10, 2008

Otherwise, this would be in the 'non-English speaking forums' tab.

Is that correct, moderator?

Let's face it: some people have clients from Spain, or may want to move over to Spain, without necessarily mastering the language completely.

I guess that the "official language" of this forum should be Spanish or English, depending on comprehension level of the person who posts a new thread. I mean, in my opinion, it's logical that people would like to write in Spanish, as this forum refers to Spanish market matters, but I find also logical to deal with posts in English, as it's an "official" language of ProZ.

Besides, the forum name tells it all: Translation in Spain / Traducción en España, in English and Spanish.

In other country specific forums, like "Translation in Uruguay", people use to write in Spanish, and in "Translation in Canada", it's normal to see posts in French and English. So it should be also correct to find posts in Catalan, Galician or Euskera, here. Although I think we should better stick to Spanish or English, as they are, in my opinion, most understandable for huge majority of this forum readers.

I guess that the language is not so important. Let's just answer in the language that main asker would understand
