I always admire the translated version of verses e.g. from those in English to French.
I have a silly question: How to translate verses or poems?
I am not good at wring verses. I imagine how verses can be translated when more constraints are applied to express the whole meanings in another language.
Will anyone have specific translation strategies/techniques for such artistic languages?
It is only when you are well-versed in your native language that you can translate poetry. Only a poet can translate poetry.
Not only conveying the original meaning ( thoughts and emotions), but also the specific structure ( meter, rhyme, tone etc). Generally, translating poetry is a very delicate craft.
