Send you file to the above mentioned address (no message necessary).

You get it back as a text file and you can count the words.

2 Solutions Apr 12, 2002

There are 2 Solutions

One can be foound utner http://www.pdfcount.com/

\"PDFCount is a plug-in utility for Adobe Acrobat and is designed to quickly display PDF document statistics. PDFCount for Acrobat unlocks valuable information within a given PDF file and instantly provides a summary of PDF document characters, words and pages.\"

The other can be found under http://www.iceni.com/geminiSet.html

Gemini is a plug-in for Adobe Acrobat that quickly converts any size of PDF document into other formats enabling you to reuse the contents in new ways. Whether you wish to post a user manual on the internet, reformat a financial report or rework an entire book, Gemini makes it simple

from within Adobe Acrobat Apr 12, 2002

If you are a holder of Version 5.0 of Adobe Acrobat you can store the pdf-file as rtf-file, from where a text-count is easily possible. Should the pdf-file be read/write-protected ask the author/provider to send you an open file or the password.

This usually works fine.

Kind Regards

Marcel

You can see the count of a PowerPoint file with a right-click on the file involved and (in the last tab, Resumen in Spanish).

Quick 'n' dirty solution Sep 12, 2002

A quick \'n\' dirty way of counting the words in a PDF is as follows:

1. Choose Continuous from the View menu in Acrobat Reader.

2. Press CTRL+A to select all the text.

3. Press CTRL+C to copy the text to the Clipboard.

4. Paste the text from the Clipboard into a blank Word document and count the words.

Not all PDFs will allow you to select and copy the text -- I think it depends on the originating application. However, it seems to work with most of those that I receive.
