You may call me a case of an arrested development, but after 600k+ words translated I somehow feel I would need to have some sort of a binding declaration or statement about steps I take to achieve and sustain the level of quality expected and paid for.

There's EN standards in the making, LISA is paddling in this pool as well, but there's nothing I could find that would fit a profile of a freelancing gun-for-hire.

And, of course, suggestions/expectations from agencies would be VERY much welcome.

I've bought this book

http://www.stjerome.co.uk/page.php?id=228&doctype=Translation%20Practices%20Explained§ion=3&msg=RESULTS&finds=1&string=revising

which gives a clear step-to-step guide on what to look for when revising and editing your own work, as well as the work of others.

Highly recommended.

Sonja

Two web sites of interest Sep 11, 2006

If you are interested in questions concerning translation quality assurance and the lke, please come and visit our Tranlsation Quality blog - http://translationquality.blogspot.com and
TranslationQuality.com - http://www.TranslationQuality.com

We haven't posted much material so far (not enough time, and too much work...), but you may find the material there of some interest.

EN standards? Don't you mean EU standards? Do you know of prEN 15038? I can't give you a direct link for it, but google for it.
