with a delivery today I crossed 1 million words translated.

sigh (smile...)

otoh ... at an (unachievable) 99.9% correct rate, that amounts to a horrifying record of 1.000 errors out there somewhere (gulp)...

Still, thank you, dear clients.

Sincerely yours

Vito

Raw or weighted? Jun 19, 2007

Congratulations, Vito! A glass (if not a whole bottle) of champagne is well-deserved.

Is that one million words 'as is' or weighted words?

BTW, do you really keep a detailed track of all your jobs?

Maciek

Congratulations Vito! Jun 19, 2007

I just checked mine: 2,401,187 words since 2000. But this is not very accurate, some part is hours or pages converted to words. Sometimes I think what the best retirement would be for us. I think for translators – not a single written word, and for interpreters – complete silence. We deserve it:)

Hearty congratulations to you both, gentlemen! Jun 19, 2007

Just think, though.

If you had used pictures you could have achieved it all in a thousandth of the time (that means less errors too, Vito!)

Hm .... in my other life Im involved with image analysis, so I know what you are talking about;)

Eventually, however, one always ends in words (no terrabytes, just bits and bytes, maybe a kilobyte - i.e. a diagram or two).

Hearty congratulations, Vito! Jun 19, 2007

According to Wikipedia, thats 2x "War and Peace" or "Les Misérables", and you're two thirds of the way to equalling "À la rechèrche du temps perdu"!

I could safely assume theres another 300.000 words in those texts - did Hemingway, Updike (the New Yorker kind of short stories) among others...
