Hello,
is it possible to change the default font in Trados TagEditor? I'm working on a job where the translation may not be longer than the source text and it would be very helpful if I could switch from Arial to a monospace font such as Curier. This way, I would be able to compare the lenght right away without further effort.
TagEditor version: 8.2.0.835
Thanks in advance!
Karel

necessary ? Jan 30, 2008

i got the same question as you, but is it necessary only for the filtering?

thought the length filter calculates the characters but not simply the length.

Hi, with lenght I meant the number of characters. With proportional font (Arial) it is often not possible to tell whether the target segment has fewer or more characters.

You could use the SDL Trados QA Checker Jan 30, 2008

Tag Editor has a QA plugin that allows you to search for segments using the following options:

- Search for target segments that are longer by ... %
- Check for target segments exceeding the following character count: ...

(Tools > Plug-ins... > SDL Trados QA Checker > Properties > Settings > Segment Verification tab)

Once you've defined your settings you can press F8 to display all segments that meet your conditions.

Olaf, thanks a lot for your input. This will definitely help, although I was hoping a little for an "instant" comparison.

I use the character count/position in the status bar.

So do I. However, you have to select the source text to find out how many characters it has. This takes some time that could be saved if there was a monospaced font.

Hello Pavel,
thanks for you reply. The file I am working on is an Excel sheet (80k+ words) imported into TagEditor. I tried to change the default font settings to Courier New in all of the Tag Settings available in TagEditor and the font is still Arial. I also tried changing all "Arial" strings to "Courier" in the .ttx file manually - no success.
I guess your fix only works with HTML or XML files that use the TagEditor's Tag Settings, not for the Excel import filter...?

I wish you told us this before: you could've saved time and effort to all of us including yourself.

the answer to your issue is simple: change the default font to courier in the xls file, then open it in tageditor.

Change font size from ridiculaous to legible in TagEDitor Mar 31, 2011

Excuse me, but does anyone know how to change working the font size in TagEditor.

What I mean is that even if actual font size in a document is 18 I can't comfortable read the text.

Due to a deadline and being a user not an IT expert, I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO TIME TO MESS ABOUT WITH IT-RELATED STUFF

Please reply to TRANSLATIONS@HUGHM.DK as well because I might not be able to find this string again...

Hi Hugh, you can use the Zoom function in TagEditor to make the font bigger/smaller.
Hope it helps.
