Hi Kim and all,

For checking British, Australian and International English usage you can go to

http://dictionary.cambridge.org/

the online versions of 3 Cambridge dictionaries are available, including the Cambridge International English Dictionary.

And if you\'re looking for theme-specific dictionaries (such as Finance, Science, etc)and encyclopedias, nothing beats

http://www.xrefer.com

Their content is mainly British, as far as I know. And the results are cross-referenced. Fabulous stuff.

Any other links you can recommend? Post them under this thread please.

Thank you Maria Jan 29, 2002

Sorry Maria, but I didn\'t realize until after I posted the reference to the rhyming dictionary that you\'re none other than the host of the marvellous GlossPost site. In case others haven\'t heard of it yet, you can join Maria\'s group at Yahoo Groups and receive a fantastically useful daily list of glossaries and dictionaries, monolingual and multilingual.

Gloss Post Feb 1, 2002

Hi, Maria Eugenia,

Could you possibly provide in-depth info on how the Gloss Post actually works ? Also, would you have to know sites where you can consult multilingual technical dictionaries ? The languages should be German, English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and French. (The most improtant ones are German, English and Portuguese). The only source I\'ve known so far in this area of multilingual technical dictionaries is EurodicAutom (http://eurodic.ip.lu/cgi-bin/edicbin/EuroDicWWW.pl), but sometimes it gets real hard to contact this source, which, by the way, is outstanding.

Pls advise.

Greetings from Rio !
