Hi,
I wonder how good the translation software such as Wordfast, Trados and MemoQ are at translating automotive terms?
Also does anyone know of a great online resource for Japanese to English automotive dictionary?

Thanks.

Misunderstanding of CAT tools? May 15, 2009

In all these CAT tools, you enter the terms yourself, so they're only as good as the terms you enter. The tools don't come with their own dictionaries.

If you Google "jidosha yogo" (using kanji), you'll find abundant automotive dictionaries. Pick the one you like best. Where the terms are arranged in nice tables, it's easy enough to copy them to Excel and hack them into a format that can be imported to your CAT tool.

Many such online resources include oddities, so some caution is required.
