Hi all,

I'm translating an Eurostat draft minutes and I would need the initials of all the EEC Member States, since I do not recognize some of them (like EL, LT, LV, EE, etc.)

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Andreina

Looks like new member states Oct 1, 2003

I guess the information is somewhere on www.europa.eu.int, but I don't know where exactly.

The codes you're looking for are most probably the new member states in the Baltic region:

"EE" is probably Estonia, since .ee is Estonia's TLD in the web. Along these lines, "LV" is Latvia and "LT" is Lithuania. No idea about "EL", though.

HTH, Ralf

If you click on the EL tab on the right of this page:

http://europa.eu.int/index_en.htm

you'll get the Greek-language version (ellinika).

have a look at this site Oct 1, 2003

http://europa.eu.int/translation_enlargement/index_en.htm

in the upper right, you'll find all abbreviations:
el is for Greece, by the way

In the meantime the dinner is ready, so I can come back on that:
es = Spain
da = Denmark
de = Germany
el = Greece
en = UK
fr = France
it = Italy
nl = the Netherlands
pt = Portugal
fi = Finland
sv = Sweden

The prospective member states:

bg = Bulgaria
cs = the Czech Republic
et = Estonia
lv = Lithuania
lt = Lettonia/ Latvia?
hu = Hungary
mt = Malta
pl = Poland
ro = Romania
sk = Slovakia
sl = Slovenia
tr = Turkey

With best regards,

Eva
