Looking for D/E direct marketing resource

Does anyone know of a reliable, comprehensive direct marketing dictionary, either D/E and E/D or JUST D/E? I am about to embark on a DM-related text and wanted to invest in such a dictionary anyway. Preferably a book that I could obtain rapidly and without high shipping costs from Germany or Europe.

Hi there Karin!

You may want to try Koschnick's Kompakt-Wörterbuch Marketing from Schäffer Poschel (ISBN 3-7910-1240-1). I seem to remember it being about EUR 80 but I can't say for sure...
It's about the best thing I've found for marketing in particular and was a suggestion of Alison's. I have found some useful information in it although it is by no means conclusive. Unfortunately the non-compact version is out of print.

It's about the best thing I've found for marketing in particular and was a suggestion of Alison's. I have found some useful information in it although it is by no means conclusive. Unfortunately the non-compact version is out of print.

Another thought is Pons Fachwörterbuch Marketing from Ernst Klett Verlag(ISBN 3-12-517980-7) (mine is from 2000, there may be a more recent version out now). It is a small volume and I don't recall how much it cost. Once again it isn't a one-shot remedy but as someone once said "you can never be too rich, too thin or have too many dictionaries..."

Also helpful in simply identifying what terms mean is "Das kleine Lexikon der Marketing-Forschung" von Geml und Lauer, Verlag Wirtschaft und Finanzen (ISBN 3-87881-171-3).

To be avoided is Schäfer's Management and Marketing Dictionary, I found it a complete waste of money if you have Hamblock/Wessels Großwörterbuch Wirtschaftsenglisch

I have Wolfgang Koschnik's Encyclopedic Dicutionary Marketing (4 volume set, 2 each EN-DE and DE-EN). This is the one I recommended to Rebecca, and I don't know if it's still in print. It is by far and a way the best marketing dico I have found.

My other main marketing reference works are two hefty tomes by Kotler (not dictionaries, but text books from studying marketing) - "Principles of Marketing" and "Marketing Management". If you read and understand either one of these then you will have a pretty solid grounding in what marketing is all about.

Up-to-date marketing dictionary Jan 20, 2006

I had a look at the Koschnick marketing dictionary and found it fairly comprehensive in a global sense but the fact that it's from 2000 put me off buying it as marketing is one of these areas that changes every week so a reference from 2000 is maybe not the way forward. Is there anything else on the market as comprehensive that is more 'modern'?
