Hello,

I have been looking for a good bilingual technical/engineering dictionary (Eng>Spa) and I would appreciate any comment, suggestion, tip that you could gave me, I am going to buy it now as there is a special 10% in all bookshops in Madrid, and that is an opportunity I cannot lose.
Thanks a lot,

Spanish Technical Dictionary

I have this one, it is O.K.
Well, it is the only one I have in this field

I work only with electronic dictionaries.
Paper is "out", in a E-Dic (some of them) you can use wildcards! and with copy&paste you can seach into several dics in seconds!

Greetings

Toledo

Collazo, too May 31, 2004

Collazo's 'Diccionario Enciclopédico de Términos Técnicos' is also a very good one.
Good luck with your translations!

Can we compare tech dictionaries? May 31, 2004

Hi Mónica,

I don't do a lot of technical work, but I do have the 2000 Collazo 3-volume set, and yet have not always been satisfied with what I found there (or didn't find there) when I needed technical terms.
Perhaps the problem is that "technical" is just such a general field that no dictionary will ever be truly adequate, but I would be interested in hearing a comparitive evaluation from anyone who has several technical dictionaries.

The best one I've found is "Nuevo Diccionario Politécnico de las lenguas española e inglesa", by Federico Beigbeder Atienza. Published by Díaz de Santos. It's widely available in Madrid, particularly in the bookshops around Moncloa and Argüelles. It was recently revised thoroughly, comes in two volumes, sp>en and en>sp, and you can buy each volume separately. I don't know the current price, but it's worth having.

Robb - Diccionario para ingenieros - oldie but goodie. You should never be without it.

Collazo - plenty of electronics, etc.

These are two "caballitos de batalla".

A good shop for all sorts of technical dictionaries in Madrid is Diaz de Santos, Lagasca, 95 near the Italian embassy.
