Has anyone tried Meta Texis? Would like to know if it is any better or simpler than other existing CAT tools. Any info will be appreciated.

Price looks interesting.

You can download and try it. Apr 11, 2002

Hi Bertha,

A one-month trial version of MetaTexis can be downloaded for free:

http://www.proz.com/?sp=metatexis/

The manual is comprehensive and easy to read.

Lazy me! Apr 11, 2002

Hi Henry,

Yes, I just saw that it is downloadable for a free trial. I guess I wanted my colleagues to do the work for me. Lazy, huh?

Thanks!

You need Office 2000 or Office XP Apr 11, 2002

The software runs in Microsoft Word, and makes use of certain functions only available in Office 2000 and Office XP (it is not enough only to have Word.)

Does Meta Texis get along with Trados? Apr 11, 2002

What I want to say is can I install Meta Texis in the same computer where I have installed Trados? A while ago I installed SDLX in the same computer with Trados and Trados was not functioning right, so I had to remove SDLX then. Anyone has tried it?

First impressions of a current Meta Texis (trial) user Apr 18, 2002

Dear Bertha,

I downloaded and installed Meta Texis a short while ago. (I\'m working my way through several CAT tools to try them all and this will, hopefully, be my last).

The price is indeed interesting as you say.

As Henry added, the manual is comprehensive and fairly straight-forward. The programme itself though has restrictions at present regarding which versions of Windows/Office it can work with.

Dear Bertha,

The price is indeed interesting as you say.

As Henry added, the manual is comprehensive and fairly straight-forward. The programme itself though has restrictions at present regarding which versions of Windows/Office it can work with.

It requires almost no pre-setup configuration and if you work consistently with certain settings, these can be applied with a click to a new file or project (saving time in having to enter source/target language each time.)

Personally, I am finding myself well with it so far.

As you must know, everyone has their own likes and dislikes as regards the various available CAT tools and I will state for the recrd that I am *not* favourbly inclined towards Trados. Others, on the other hand swear by it, and so the world turns.

If you\'d like further details or information regarding Meta Texis (or any other CAT tool), please feel free to drop me a line and I\'ll be happy to \'discuss\' the matter further.

And it\'s not being lazy, lol, it\'s \'covering all bases\'.

Regards,

B.W.
