Hello! Does anybody know of a really good, reliable, Dutch / English, general purpose, online dictionary?

So far I've been using Lexicool http://www.lexicool.com/ and Ectaco http://www.ectaco.com/, and I was just wondering if there is a better one, or if, indeed, those two are worth it...

Hi, the only 'real' NL-EN-NL dictionary is vanDale. Not available on-line, but available on a CDROM.

The Ectaco site is about language software. This company has something like that, including the (small) vanDale:
http://dictionary.cpen.com/index_html
http://dictionary.cpen.com/Dictionaries/dictionary_view?dictionary_id=6

Is that what you were looking for? This is the vanDale website:
http://www.vandale.nl/.
VanDale does not come cheap though.

There is also another dictionary technology, and you can download its dictionaries:
http://www.ifinger.com/Default.asp?
http://www.ifinger.com/shop/default.asp?productsok=&pubid=&catid=&slanguage=1043&searchmodus=true

They use the 'Prisma' dictionaries', which are OK as well, and a download is quite cheap (EUR 16.95).
Ah, I just saw you also have a free 30-day trial period, so you can download it for free....
http://www.ifinger.com/registration/userdownloads.asp

I use i-finger for some glossaries I have and it works quite well.

HTH, Anjo

You can also have 30 days free access to Van Dale (monolingual and DU»EN) via Babylon now. Babylon is not just their own resources anymore. Far cheaper than buying the dico in book or CD rom format.
