I´d like to know which are the most usual DTP programs, and how much are we supposed to charge a client who asks for translation and DTP.

Thanks a lot,
Pat

QuarkXPress is leading DTP software as well as Adobe Pagemaker, but if I were you,I would try to work with really great and free RagTime Solo.

What is it worth to work with a DTP solution your client does not want?

You cannot convert documents between PageMaker and QuarkXPress (or Word and WorfPerfect and so on) to work with them with a software you have and then convert them back and deliver. So before you offer any DTP solutions first check how expensive the applications are (for example QXP may cost 2000 Euros and more) and be sure you will work with them. There is a very big difference between working in Word and working in QuarkXPress.
Beside this you will need more knowledge about typeseting, colour management and so on - which hardly can be earned with self learnig within short time.
