The Ethnologue is comprehensive, but won't provide a list of the names of the languages in the languages themselves. When I contributed to entries to the Ethnologue, I don't recall that type of entry.

Two avenues to pursue for this:

1.
Send your question to the Letters to Editor address of MultiLingual Computing & Technology:
http://www.multilingual.com/
Select About us --> Contact information
The email alias for Letters is letters@..... instead of the other aliases that are provided.

2.
Go to the Ask-A-Linguist page of the LINGUIST List which has a panel of 60 linguists for such questions about linguistics in general:
http://www.linguistlist.org/ask-ling/before-submitting.html

Both are good on providing answers to questions, but won't necessary provide the answer by tomorrow morning.

Hope that helps,

An idea May 14, 2005

I haven't found the list you want, but have an idea.

Suppose the proz.com members wrote and send you in their script the languages in which they work, you should have a nearly exhaustive list of the languages of the world. I believe there are 100,000 registered members, they should be representing all the major languages.

Here is the list of the names of the languages that use devnagari script:

Sanskrit: संस्कृत
Hindi:हिंदी

Nepali: नेपाली

(To see the script properly, keep the browser encoding to utf-8).
