G'day everyone!

The South African dictionary publisher, Pharos, has decided to put several of their general and subject dictionaries on the web (subscription-based). I'm not directly affiliated to Pharos and I hope it's okay to post this information in this forum.

The complete text of the following dictionaries in searchable format is available on-line:

* Dictionary of Economics and Business (W.F.J. Snyman, H.J.J. Reynders)
* Dictionary of Oceanology (J.R.E. Lutjeharms)
* New Business Dictionary (J.D.U Geldenhuys, E.E. Viljoen-Smook)
* Technical Dictionary (H.J. Terblanche) (this is simply a "reprint" and not an updated version of the popular Terblanche technical dictionary)
* Theatre, Radio, Television and Film Dictionary (M. Grobbelaar)
* Bridge glossary (Johan Dorfling)
* Classical names glossary (SA Akademie)
* Major Dictionary (L.C. Eksteen) (which is the second largest general EnglishAfrikaans dictionary on the market)
* Bilingual Phrase Dictionary (P.A. Joubert)
* Pharos New Words (M. du Plessis)
* Verklarende Afrikaanse Woordeboek (F.J. Labuschagne, L.C. Eksteen) (monolingual Afrikaans dictionary)
* Groot Tesourus van Afrikaans (L.G. de Stadler)

The subscription rates are R250/year for only the subject dictionaries or R350/year for all dictionaries. You can either search all dictionaries or choose which ones you'd like to search, and you can search with multiple-field pseudo-Boolean operators too.

Pharos has also finally decided to publish the above dictionaries and some of their other dictionaries (such as the etymological dictionary) on CD-ROM (at roughly R250 each).

The newest Pharos EnglishAfrikaans dictionary (which is a fully revised edition of the very popular Bosman/VDM/Hiemstra dictionary), is unfortunately not yet available on CD-ROM. What a pity
