Questions concerning royalties/contract Jul 24, 2002

Is it normal for the translator to receive royalties and/or enter into such a contract as you shared with us (thank you, by the way), for a short text (1,200 words for a literary journal publication)? Also, if so (concerning the royalties), is this normally already understood by the publisher? Can royalties be discussed after the translation has been completed and an estimate of the work has already been given? I would like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks!

Jennie

i don't think it is 'understood'... Jul 25, 2002

however, you can hardly expect anything substantial from royalties for a small piece.

I am not an expert, but i believe that any issue (royalties, amount of renumeration0 are to be clearly stated in the contract.
