looking for resources to improve financial knowledge

I have been looking for some resources which will be useful for me in gaining a better understanding of financial matters - accounts, international finance, all the usual things that come up in translations and in which I would like to specialise further.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good educational books, resources, courses which are aimed at theory, rather than practice?

Thanks for all that everyone - have only had a chance for a quick glance, so all this is now on my 'self-improvement' pile along with yoga, more exercise etc. still left over from my new years resolutions

The LIBRARY!!! Are you mad???? You mean I actually have to leave my desk??? What kind of insane suggestion is that???
