Hello
I need to count htm files and there are many words repeated in these docs. I used Practicount and Total Assistant; however they count all repeated words. Somebody knows a software which do not count repeated words?
Thank you much!

Not that I know of Sep 25, 2006

Hi Silvia,

As far as I know there's no software that does a "no count" of repeated words.

However, I see in your profile that you use Trados. It indicates the percentage of segments (not exactly words, as you know) that are repetitions. Maybe is that what you are looking for?

Kind regards,
Jerónimo

Why would you like to count them? Sep 25, 2006

I hope not to give a discount to the customer

In fact more than 99% of the words in any text are repetitions. As Jerónimo suggested, probably you need to know repeated sentences.
There are special programs for linguists that list all words in a text according to their frequency, they are called text analysis tools.

Trados - The Analyze function Sep 25, 2006

Hi,

If you have Trados you can start WorkBench and use the Analyze function.

It will count the amount of words of segments that are repeated.

If you want to count repeated sentences, you need to use a translation software such as Trados.

If you want to count repated words, you need an analyser like this: http://www.georgetown.edu/faculty/ballc/webtools/web_freqs.html

The only thing I don't know is whether there are any that can handle files in HTML.
