Dear colleagues,
I would like to do a proofreading course, but before paying for it I would like to have someone else’s opinion about it.
I found 3 courses, which one do you think it’s the best?

Also, do you know any other proofreading courses either in London or distance learning?

The other doubt I have is that these courses are all in English, but I will be offering my services as a Portuguese proofreader to the agencies. Do you think that if I do one of theses courses I can still "sell" myself as a Portuguese proofreader?
Does anyone know of any course to be a Portuguese proofreader?
Thank you very much.

I embarked on this course, I have to say I wasn't terrifically inspired by it, particularly the quality of the teaching materials supplied, and the rather "there you are, now get on with it" attitude. I also felt it was rather old-fashioned, and very much geared to paper editing for book publishing, and didn't have a great deal to offer me in terms of electronic publishing and proofing.

However, it must also be said that this was several years ago now, so my experience may be out of date.

Circumstances overtook plans, I have been busily engaged in proof-reading every since, and never even bothered finishing the course...

I am interested in training to become a proof reader. Please can anyone advise which is more benefitial to do, a distance learning course or is it better to attend the more expensive seminars ? Jonathan
