starting a wiki for translators: opinions?

hello,

I am a relatively new freelance translator. Lately I have posted on another popular translator site regarding the idea of starting a community wiki for translator.

I would like to hear from seasoned translator if this is a good idea. It can be a Database for translated terms and glossaries

Is a community wiki a good way to go?

Hi Joe,

Do you know about Wikiwords (www.wikiwords.org), which is something similar to what you describe, or were you thinking of something different?

The KudoZ glossary here on ProZ.com is also a glossary of terms built by translators.

Best regards,
Niraja

See here: http://www.proz.com/post/441436 and comment, if you want to. If you want a wiki for words, then try Niraja's solution.

starting ya (yet another) wiki? Fine... what's the subject? Nov 29, 2006

wiki is - the way I see it - a hyperlinked tree of somethings. So what would it offer, that Proz does not have?
