Hi all,
Would anyone care to share their favourite links/references on the Net regarding English idioms/phrases/sayings/figure of speechs etc?
I know I can easily find it with search engines but it would save time if YOU all could spare the time in sharing your favourites.
Thanks in advance.
I find it interesting and rewarding to have many resources that you may recommend.
For instance, I found out that "he made a mint"" had different meaning that the one I had in mind before doing some "research" on the Net.
Hope you can help me.

Harry - excellent idea!
Han Li- thank you for this!
Maybe it is helpful to expand on Harry's idea and aks for translations from/into other languages.
I am forever stuck when I have to translate a phrase into/from German. I know exactly what the phrase is talking about, but at that very moment, the proper phrase in the other language eludes me.

Found it when trying to translate "All My Eye and Peggy Martin" into Indonesian, got the meaning from itu, and with the help of Bahtera translation mailing list, translate it as "cuma pepesan kosong"

Here are two pages with over 120-130 links to what you mention interest you:

They are from my web site. Sorry if you don't like the DIY design, but I'm not a web site designer. However you'll hopefully find the site useful for references with much more than just the above.

Hi, this one is my favorite - http://www.wikidioms.com/
WikIdioms - a crowd-source project of multilingual translation of idioms, phrasal verbs, expressions and other kinds of collocations.
The site contains now circa two thousand expressions in several languages and is rapidly growing due to the efforts of fellow translators. | | | |
