Dear colleagues,

at you will be able to sign the petition to the EU in order not to lose our beloved Eurodicautom. PLEASE *do* pay a visit and \"sign\" the document! We may regret not doing so!

Write to your Euro M.P. Dec 23, 2002

Wouldn\'t it be more effective if every translator in Europe writes to his/her E.M.P?

After all, this was the request of the Spanish student in Translation, who brought this news to the world after a visit to his university from a E.U.-terminologist, working at Eurodicautom.

This terminologist announced that possibly in March 2003 Eurodicautom is going to be accessible for internal E.U.-staff only.

Hence, questions can be asked in the European parliament about what is really going on?

The website of the European parliament is: or

Just click on the name of the party or the number under the flag of your country and you will see the names, contact details and emails of the members.

You are a part of their electorate too.

You could even bring this to the attention of political \"heavy-weights\" such as the President or Vice-President of the European Convention at I doubt whether they will listen, but you never know.

Anybody got any firends in the media? Dec 23, 2002

Some newspapers and perhaps wire services may be keen to do a story on this.

Hold your horses... Dec 23, 2002

Here\'s some information forwarded by Alan Wheatley (ITI):

Dear colleagues

You have certainly heard of the impending \"closure\" of Euridicautom and you may have been asked, like me, to sign a petition. Rest assured, the rumour is unfounded.

I actually contacted Euridicautom directly and received the following clarification:

1. Euridicautom is not going to be \"closed down\", but will simply be moved. A simple Internet application will redirect visitors to the correct address.

2. This change will take place around March or April.

3. Access will continue to be free.
