MS has a ppt viewer Feb 5, 2003

Microsoft has a PowerPoint (.ppt) viewer available for free download at http://microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=D1649C22-B51F-4910-93FC-4CF2832D3342&displaylang=en

This is a viewer only; it does not allow any editing.

StarOffice/OpenOffice.org Feb 5, 2003

You can also also edit MS PowerPoint files in StarOffice or its free counterpart, OpenOffice.org, though I find the formatting is not generally preserved sufficiently well. (Word and Excel are handled much better.)
