We can replace a term by pressing Ctrl + H within a file, but is there a way to search multiple files (not limited to word file, PDF, TXT perhaps) and replace?

It could be useful when you want to change a translation of a particular word in multiple files.

I remember I made a Word Marcro for this but I can't find it now. I am too busy to make that program again.

I found the Word Macro code. Feb 11, 2008

Thank you Estelle. SR32 is very nice but it doens't support word .doc files. The VBA code in the link above can perform the trick.

Plus Tools Feb 11, 2008

Plus Tools is a free tool made by Yves Champollion of Wordfast.
It has a number of functions, including multiple file search and replace.

Archivarius replaces text? Feb 12, 2008

I cannot find any information on that?

As to indexing files and looking for key words - Copernic Desktop Search does this for free.

For HTML files... Feb 12, 2008

For HTML files, try the ancient freeware app SRhtml98 (yes, 98). It replaces single or multiline pieces of text, and it has the option of making backups and the option to confirm each replacement if you want. It works on the source code, so I imagine you could use it for normal text files too (but I haven't tried it). Excellent if you want to change something (eg a menu or a headed style sheet) across several pages.

This is exactly what I want Mar 13, 2008

Finally I had some time to make this little program. It's developed out of Ibrahim (Ibby) Elnazak's Macro code (http://word.mvps.org/faqs/macrosvba/BatchFR.htm)
http://www.jointheflatworld.com/en/batchreplacer.zip

The program searches and replaces multiple word files in a specified folder and/or its subfolders.
