Dear All,

I have just browsed the website http://translationcertification.org, and by this I really got lost

in the selection. Which certification I could get outside Egypt considering that Egypt currently

doesnot have an accreditation program or by other words still on the start line.

In addition; We have now in Egypt the affiliate program "British Standard EN 15038".

Please advise if the above mentioned affiliate programs are enough at the moment to exist

strongly online or There are other worthy?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Usama

Hi Sep 25, 2011

Hi Usama,

Sorry, but the link is not working. If you would like to obtain professional certifications, you should consider what countries you would like to sell your services to. And then decide what is best in your case.

A lot of discussions in the past about this "certification" Sep 25, 2011

There have been quite a lot of fora about this company offering the "certification". Please read the following very carefully before you make a decision you might regret in the long run:

- http://www.proz.com/forum/internet_for_translators/137117-has_anyone_heard_of_this_school_institute_global_translation_institute_ctp_program.html
- http://eng.proz.com/forum/professional_development/203891-certification_is_becoming_essential.html

Personally I would seek certification by an institution that is recognised by somebody, or better said, by everybody, like the Chartered Institute of Linguists of the American Translators Association. Check their websites for more information. Certification with them will be difficult and expensive depending on your case, but if you prepare well and pass the exams, you will be recognised as a good professional worldwide. A private company offering a "certification programme" is far from desirable, especially because nobody recognises a certificate you can get very easily with them.
