Dear prozicilar (?)

I would like to make a research on Ottoman Turkish place names of Macaristan in the period between 1541 and 1699. Do you have any idea where to look?

The ideal solution would be a detailed historical atlas of the Ottoman Empire - I wonder if anything like this has been published in modern Turkey.

An online listing would be just perfect, but I doubt if anything like this exists.

I would beleive that names of principlal forts, as well as administrative centers (vilayetler, sancaklar or maybe even nahiyeler) should be available in Turkish.

Great thanks to any help - Yardiminize cok tesekkür ederim

Hi,

I would suggest
http://www.h-net.org/~turk/
You need to subscribe and once your subscription is approved you would have chance to post a question in the network. This is your best bet.

A while ago, some people have written about old and new versions of printed maps of otoman empire, but I do not recall exactly who was the publisher of said documents.

I hope it helps.

Regards

Here you go..

There are maps in Ankara which were printed before or after 1890.
You just need to get into contact with them.

I would assume there would be no web based map catalog.
But once you finish your research it can be a good web re-source of Ottoman names of places in Macaristan.
