Please help!
Today I suddenly noticed that all zip-files (new and old) were assigned to the application Acd (an image viewing program). When I double-click an archive, it starts ACD. I re-installed this application, but now Vista is not able to open zip-archives anymore. I still can send a file to an archive, but after that Vista does not know how to open it.
What can I do?
I could install an zip-application, but I would like to get back my old Vista.
Regards
Heinrich

Hi,
You need to right click on any archive, choose "open with" and pick "Select/Choose default program".
Then, choose "Windows explorer" in the list, make sure the "always open with this program" box is ticked, and click 'ok'.
PS: My Windows is in French, so the name of the menus may not be accurate.

There was no alternative for opening, only open with ACDsee. After I had removed ACDsee not even that. Now I installed ACDsee again, (custom installation), I made sure zip-files were not on the list, but again zip was assigned to ACDsee.
Now i installed a separate program (Universal extracter), and now the only thing I can do with zip-files is extract them using Universal extractor.
So the operating system does not recognize zip anymore.
This happened suddenly, ACDsee had been installed for months and only the other day was I still able to open zip-files with Vista.
Something like that has happened to me years ago with XP too. Once the capability was lost there was no return.

After download I did not have a reg-file but a download file.
I changed the extension to reg and installed the patch. After re-starting all is well again!
What a relief.
