Windows XP - retrieving deleted info

Hi,

Hope someone can help. I've been very careless and sent some files to the "Recycle Bin" then emptied it, losing an important file.

I've tried "System Restore" but to no avail - it doesn't want to restore before the current date and time which seems a bit pointless.

Anyway, does anyone know how to retrieve the information deleted for the "Recycle Bin"?

an a bit of luck, that the sectors of the HDD, where the files were stored, were not overwritten in between.
