Why can't I create a new glossary?

"Click the "New glossary" button. Wordfast creates a sample, English-French dictionary, made up of three lines (commonly referred to as entries). Each entry is made of a source term, followed by a tabulator, followed by a target term. This is a sample glossary, in which you can edit or delete existing terms. Note that Wordfast glossaries do not contain language definitions (language codes) so you can re-use the sample, EN-FR glossary even if your language pair is different."

So far I have followed the user manual of Wordfast. But now after I clicked the "New glossary" button, a window appeared with such remarks:

"error, object needed."

What can be the cause? Besides, the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+T to open the window for new terms does not always work. Can anybody help?

Thanks in advance.

I believe there were some versions that had known glossary problems. You might trying upgrading/retrograding to another version.

Try making your own glossary in excel, save it as "text, tab delimited" and select it in wordfast, rather than creating a new glossary. This is what I usually do and never had any problems.

That's strange that CTRL- ALT- T only works 'sometimes'. Have you noticed if the problem occurs when a particular program is open, and fixes itself when that particular program is closed? If you don't have an active glossary, I don't think the shortcut would work?

I'm still having problems with CTRL-ALT-C on my new laptop, but mine *never* works plus a few other lesser used shortcuts that are hijacked by some other program ... haven't had enough time to troubleshoot it yet.

Thanks for your reply.

The problem with the shortcut is solved now. The window will not open unless a term in the source language and one in the target language are selected seperately. I didn't always choose both.
