extract glossary from existing TMs

I read in the Plus Tools Manual that you can create either a monolingual glossary by extracting terms from only the source text or you can do a:

"Multilingual term extraction: a glossary is extracted from existing translation memories. The machine will work as for monolingual term extraction, but will make every effort to spot the corresponding term in the target segment, and offer it as a possible candidate, pending human validation"

Can anyone explain how to extract a multilingual glossary from a translation memory in more detail? I have tried to use the TM file (Notepad file) itself and the alignment file that I have created before creating the new TM.
