I get this error too - HELP please! | Mar 3, 2009 |

No one has replied to this post. I've had it too - and has meant that I have been unable to use Wordfast Pro for any ppt translations (which is a shame because Wordfast 5 has always messed up ppt formats for me). Has this problem been corrected in the latest release (2.1.9)? Does anyone know any workarounds? Thanks for any help that may be forthcoming! Phil W
No suggestion, but... | Mar 3, 2009 |
...I hope you've learnt your lesson about buying a program that is still more or less in Beta phase. What you purchased was described by a fellow ProZian as a "half-baked product". Pretty self-explanatory. Two rules of thumb: 1. Never buy a car unless the model has been on the market for at least one year. 2. Never do the same with software (ANY software, not just WF).

Happily my licence for Wordfast 5 covered licencing of the new version, so my wallet isn't any lighter. As for Trados, it's a good option, but not THE option. You might consider e.g. MemoQ which can handle Trados TTX files pretty well. The question is: if you work for agencies, are their PMs technically competent enough to allow you to work on TTX files with a different CAT tool? BTW, SDL Trados will be a sunset version soon. Rumours are going around ProZ that the brand-new SDL Studio is scheduled for release this summer.

I'm adding to this forum in the hopes that someone has come up with a solution. I'm having this issue with Word files now too, meaning I can't get the final word count either. It is very frustrating. Any help is appreciated! WF's website has not been very helpful so far...
Lindsay Sabadosa wrote: I'm having this issue with Word files now too, meaning I can't get the final word count either. Dear Lindsay There are many ways to get the source word count of your file: 1- Go to *File* (menu) > *Properties*; *wordcount* appears among them. 2- In *Txml Context* (in the bottom part of the interface), there is also *Word count*. 3- You can use the *Analyze* button (the 5th button on the toolbar), or the *Analyze* feature in *PM Perspective*. Please make sure you download and install the latest version of Wordfast Professional available at: http://www.wordfast.com/store_download.html I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please let me know. --- Best regards, Yasmin Moslem Wordfast Support Team www.wordfast.com | www.wordfast.net

I have this problem too today. The error message to me was the following: "Error while saving file null" I was working on a xls file. What I tried and worked was: - first I've made a copy of the source document - then I opened the copy on Wordfast and translated everything again with the TM I've already have from the previous translation - then tried to save it as a translated file again and it finally worked.
