just open XLS in Excel, place the cursor into the first cell of the sheet, go to Word, open a new document and start translating.

Sergei's advice is correct, but depending on the complexity of the excel file and your level of experience, you might wish to handle it differently. Have a look here for more methods.

Wordfast won't translate hidden cells, which can be useful - if you are doing a glossary type spreadsheet just copy the source text column to the target text column, hide the source text, translate and then unhide the source.
It will only translate the current worksheet. If you have multiple sheets you have to do them one at a time starting a new Word document for each.
Terry.

Make not only sure that there isn't any other Excel file open (see the prozwiki article), but close also any open file in Acrobat and Powerpoint or the programmes straightaway. Then it will work like a miracle
Good luck!
