Dear All!

What is a max size of a TM in my licensed Wordfast? Also, is there any dependency on the size of the TM (say 20 Mg) and system response rate ("speed") (mine is Pentium 4, 2400, 512 RAM)?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Iouri

No limit Oct 31, 2003

I do not think that there is a limit. I am working with a 10 MB TM right now, and it works well (My system is a AMD 2500, 512 MB RAM, and a fast hard drive). The only issue is reorganising the TM, that might take a up to two minutes.

I have tried Wordfast on a Pentium 100 (from 1996), and then reorganising a medium size TM took forever, so the speed of your system will affect the way you can work with wordfast. But nobody uses a Pentium 100 anymore (I hope)...:)

It is also possible to use a background TM to reduce the size of the TM you are working with.

Size of tmw/tmx TMs is limited Oct 31, 2003

AFAIK, normal WF TMs (txt files) are not limited to any size.

Having said that, I once had a problem with one tmw or tmx TM (cannot remember which one) that was exported from Metatexis. I contacted Yves as I wasn't able to import it into WF. He confirmed that these TMs are limited to 20 MB in size.

The size, no matter what format, will definitely affect WF's speed.

No difference between 10 and 20 MB Oct 31, 2003

That's true. Worfast seems to suffer a bit when you reach 2 MB but the funny thing is that beyond that phase 2 or 10 extra MB don't seem to count anymore. (Except when reorganising and compressing.)

Gerard
