| User | Thread poster: Frank Poppelaars .htm files suddenly not being loaded into WF Pro properly |

Something strange is happening with my WordFast Pro. I am translating .htm files for a software localisation project and I have translated over 50 of the 147 files without any trouble now. Nothing has changed; I haven't updated WF (using version 2.4.1) lately and I haven't changed anything in my folder containing the source files. But suddenly the files I haven't yet translated are not loaded into WF properly. (Loading previously translated .txml files seems to work okay.)
Example:
This is one of the sentences that should have loaded into WF: "Double-click on a Group that has already been added if you want to re-name it."
This is loaded into WF: "Double-click on a Group that has already" and then it stops. It is not continued in the next cell. Instead, the rest of the sentence seems to just be "lost".
For the past day I have been copying the full sentence into the translation column so at least I didn't have to switch between windows, but this is ridiculous. Plus, some placeables are lost as well, which requires post-editing for every file translated this way.
It is costing me a lot of time, and it should just work properly. I don't know if WF is to blame or if somehow my source files were corrupted (but I didn't do anything with them). I installed WF Pro 2.4.2 on my brand new laptop and tried it there (with the exact same source files), and the problem existed there too. So maybe the files are corrupted somehow, but I have no idea how to proceed. Can you help?
Some additional information:
- some sentences *are* loaded completely, but most are not.
- I use Windows 7 on both PC and laptop.
- I *can* open the .htm files correctly in a program called VisualPage.

I have downloaded the source files again, which should not have been corrupted in any way, and tried loading them into WF, with the exact same result.
Since the files are also loaded into VisualPage correctly, it seems to be a WF problem.
I can't work like this. Can anyone help? | | | |

Dear Frank,
This was a known issue in 2.4.1. But it requires you to install the latest version without saving the configuration files. I know you have already installed the latest version, but please reinstall it again with a further step. When you are asked to keep configuration files, answer with "NO", remember "NO".
Make sure you first back up (Export) your glossaries, if any.
I hope this helps. Please let me know.

Dear Yasmin,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I installed the latest version on my new laptop, on which there were no prior configuration files, and still it did not work there. I am not at home this weekend, so I will try your method on my PC on Monday, regardless. Maybe it will work there. I will let you know on this thread if it worked.

Dear Yasmin,
I made a backup of all WF folders and installed the latest version, NOT keeping my config files, hunspell, etc. It worked.
Then I copied my hunspell files back to the appropriate folder (years of adding my own terms) and the same problem arose. It remained after I deleted the hunspell files again. I had also set my preferences before I noticed the problem had arisen again, however, so it may not be hunspell recreating the problem, but instead some preference setting (though that sounds more unlikely).
What should I do? I don't want to throw out years of building my own spelling database. Please assist.

Alright, I reinstalled again and did NOT add any hunspell files. I checked before and after setting my preferences, and it turned out that after setting my prefs the .htm files became corrupt again. Then I restored all default settings but the problem remained. I am now going to reinstall for the umpteenth time so I can at least work until you (hopefully) have a solution for me. Please let me know if you need any additional information from me.

I've encountered the same problem of whole sections of segments being omitted. What is particularly worrying is not knowing whether or not the word count was accurate. Is there any way that one can use preferences etc. without this problem arising? I am using Wordfast Pro 2.4.4 on Windows XP and Office 2007.

I had some contact with Yasmin about this via e-mail after the last post here, but that took quite some time. In the meantime I had tried all kinds of things. I read through the e-mails but at some point I simply said that I had a working version without it being clear why. She recommended this, however:
"Could you please try to delete the "Wordfast" folder from "Program Files" and delete "wf_workspace" folder from C:\Documents and Settings\UserName (for Vista: C:\Users\UserName).
Then, try re-installing the latest version. Make sure that you disable any anti-virus or security software during that."
If that doesn't work, I recommend contacting Yasmin / the hotline.
Good luck. | | | |

Could you please check the Text View of WFP; if you can see the missing parts, so the problem is not an import issue but rather a segmentation option.
You can adjust your Segmentation Settings by checking "CR" and "LF". Make sure that the default marks (.:?!) are visible as well.
It is illustrated here:

If you have a generated TXML file, make sure you delete it first.
