Hi,
I am new with wordfast and I am not very confident with it yet.
I just wanted to know wether is it possible to "merge" 2 documents:
the source text with the translated text.
I have a document I am translating right now. I've done about half of it. Is there a way to enter the translated version next to the source one... I just really don't have the time to do it sequence by sequence...

Sounds like you want to *align* your source and target texts, ie. generate a translation memory from it. If so, you can use the aligner in Wordfast Anywhere (www.freetm.com)-

Sounds like you are using Wordfast Pro (always worth mentioning, since there are several products called "Wordfast", which are quite different.
Once you have your TM created by alignment, you can use it to re-translate the portion of your document allegedly translated without Wordfast.
I'm just guessing what you want to do, since it's not very clear from your message.

align was obviously the right term!
it seems to work now with the link you provided. Thanks a lot!
It's the freeware version of wordfast i am "using". I've never done it properly as I never had the time / patience to sit down and read the user manual. I still don't konw how it works properly...

maybe an online tuition would be appropriate in my case

I am very completely lost ... I'd better use a pen and a block of paper like in the good old times!
I've received the "aligned" file which I am absolutely unable to open...
maybe it's just too late and I should have a look at it tomorrow

There are three versions of Wordfast: 1) Classic, 2) Pro, 3) Anywhere. The only freeware version is Anywhere, the one you went to at www.freetm.com in order to do the alignment.
Classic and Pro can be used in demo mode and are functional up to a point. Since you were talking about having source and target side-by-side, I assume you are using Pro (in demo mode). Before considering any tuition, you may want to have a look at this:

The file you got is a translation memory. You should open it in Wordfast Pro (via Translation Memory > New/Select > Open. Once that TM is selected, you should be able to open your source document and re-translate the portions you translated manually (outside Wordfast). Everything you have translated should come as matches from the TM.
