I've been practicing on Wordfast Pro (Demo version) for two days and I cannot figure out what to do once I've translated every segment. How do I convert it back into a word document or pdf document that is comprehensible to the reader? In Trados, I think they refer to this step as the clean up but it seems to be something entirely different in Wordfast, from what I read in the various manuals I found. So, how do I achieve this last step? Been at it all night, I'd be really grateful if someone could answer me! PLEEEAAAAASE, I'm ripping my hair out

You have to click on "File" in the top menu and then on "Save Translated File"

You cannot create a translated PDF from a source PDF and a TXML

If you have a source DOC/DOCX and the TXML created from it, you can obtain a translated DOC/DOCX, via File > Save translated file.
If all you have is a source PDF and a translated TXML, you cannot obtain a translated PDF.
As I already told you in another post, your client most likely only expects a translated TXML from you, so there's no need to panick.

I use a lot of freeware for video. Its performance often surpasses expensive commercial software, however user-friendliness is often low: one must know thoroughly what they are doing and how to do it.
My recollection of how one (video) freeware developer aptly described it is: "I feel sure my video software outperforms most commercial products, however as it is free, you shouldn't expect a friendly interface, nor any kind of tech support beyond peer user groups on the web."
WordFast includes user support from the developer, however its user interface and performance (especially Pro) resemble $19.99 shareware. So, upon using either WF Classic or Pro, don't expect the same level of user-friendly interface that you'd get, say, from Adobe or Sony. Though WF should have been quite expensive (compared to software for other purposes), forget the Trados-driven* price you it costs, and approach its skimpy interface as if you were using a $19.99 shareware app. This should make it less stressful for you and preserve your hairstyle.
*To make my position clear: I am not advocating for Trados, never used it, hopefully never will (I use WF - both). All I know about it is SDL's abusive marketing, and a barrage of complaints of all kinds from users everywhere. My point is that Trados' overwhelmingly aggressive marketing costs have probably caused WordFast to become much more expensive than it should be.

@John: Thanks for the links! I don't know how I missed that. Instead, I tried to piece it together with bits of info here and there
@José: Technology usually has a negative impact on my strands, LOL. I guess an attitude adjustment is indeed in order but I can't help but wish I could hop on a time machine and go back to the days of pen and paper. Well, at least I'm keeping the hairdresser busy
