Hi everyone!

I have two TM with both the same source and target languages.

Is it possible to combine both to create a bigger memory, and if yes, how?

Thanks!

Estefania

Its very simple Feb 17, 2005

Eyport one of them to *.txt and import that file into another TM.
Or better: create a new one with the same source-target combination. Export both TMs and import the *.txt into the new one.

Jerzy

PS
Ooops, its Wordfast (I use Trados) - but this should work in the same way.

You don't have to export anything Feb 17, 2005

In Wordfast there is Merge function just for that: Translation Memory - Service and select Merge. You need to select the memory to add to your current one, et voila!

Jerzy is right, but... Feb 17, 2005

first you should you tell us the format of both TM's. Were they created and constructed with Wordfat?

A very simple way to merge both memories into one, provided they are .txt (text without format)files.

Open the first TM with Word.

Go the end and press ENTER to create a new paragraph.

In the menu INSERT, click on File and follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

The first time you open the merged TM, Wordfast will index it.

An even simpler method if you have an old WF version (i.e 4.22).

Open Word and WF
Open the first memory.
Click on the icon WF (last button on the rigth
Click on the TM tab and locate the "MERGE" button
Follow WF instructions

Please bear in mind that this applies only to .txt files.

For .tmx files, the process is somewhat differentm depending on youyr WF version.

Cheers

Hi,

I tried Bruno's tip and it worked flawlessly.

Both were .txt files and since I have the WF5 version I couldn't use directly the merge function on the tab menu.

Thanks to all of you for your good hints
