How do you send part of a translation done in Wordfast?

I'm doing a project in Wordfast (which I'm new to), but the client wants me to send part of the translation every day. How do I 'end' part of the translation without loosing all my rows or totally ruining the document somehow?

I hope my question makes sense. Thanks for the help.

Send complete file every time Nov 27, 2007

I don't know about Wordfast, but I guess the situation would be similar with Trados (which I use). I'd suggest that you send the complete file you're translating every day, containing the previously translated and the yet untranslated parts. No need to copy/paste parts you translated imho.

Regards,
Erik

what I would do ... Nov 27, 2007

At the end of day, Alt+End and save your document as usual.

Then, "save as" under a different name, and clean up the copy.

Continue working on your original, segemented text and make a new copy each day to send to the client.

Remember to back up several times a day (the TM too !)

Or just send the "unclean" file every day ...

what do I do first? Nov 27, 2007

Lori,

Should I create the separate document first, or 'Alt+end' the oroginal document first?

Alt end first Nov 27, 2007

Alt + end the original document first, then save it normally. Then, make your copy and clean up the copy.

Then you can just reopen the original document, place your cursor where you left off, and hit alt + down again and resume translating.

You should always close any open segment in a WF document by using alt+end before closing the document.
