Source text - German Chemische Grundlagen Das metallische Kupfer ist ein hellrotes, verhältnismässig weiches, aber sehr zähes, schmiedbares und dehnbares Metall. Kupfer ist neben Gold und extrem reinem Cäsium, Calcium, Strontium und Barium das einzige Metall, das das sichtbare Spektrum nicht fast vollständig reflektiert. Es absorbiert im grünen und teilweise im blauen Bereich und erscheint daher farbig. An der Luft oxidiert sich Kupfer oberflächlich langsam zu rotem Kupfer(I)-oxid, das an der Oberfläche fest haftet und dem Kupfer die bekannte rote Kupferfarbe verleiht. Diese ist also gar nicht die eigentliche Farbe des hellroten Metalles selbst. Kupfer(II)-oxid CuO entsteht als schwarzer Feststoff beim Erhitzen von metallischem Kupfer an der Luft auf Rotglut. Umgekehrt gibt es an reduzierende Substanzen wie Wasserstoff bei erhöhter Temperatur den Sauerstoff leicht wieder ab. Bei dieser Reduktion ist die hellrote Kupferfarbe zu beobachten. Wird also die heisse, durch CuO an der Oberfläche schwarz gefärbte Kupferscheibe von dem aus dem Glasrohr strömenden Wasserstoff umspüllt, tritt Reduktion ein. Unterbricht man durch Entfernen des Glasrohrs die Wasserstoffzufuhr, so reagiert das heisse Kupfer mit Luftsauerstoff sofort wieder zum schwarzen CuO.	Translation - English Chemistry Metallic copper is a light red, relatively soft, but also an extremely tough, ductile and malleable metal. Together with gold and highly pure caesium, calcium, strontium and barium, copper is the only metal that does not almost completely reflect the entire visible spectrum. It absorbs in the green and partially in the blue, and therefore appears coloured. The surface of copper oxidizes slowly in air to red copper(I) oxide that adheres strongly to the surface. It is this oxide that gives copper its familiar red coloration, not the light red metal itself. Copper(II) oxide CuO is a solid that is produced upon heating metallic copper to red heat in air. Conversely, at increased temperatures it easily releases oxygen to reducing substances such as hydrogen. During this reduction the light red coloration of copper can be observed. Reduction therefore takes place if the copper disc, superficially coated black with CuO, is surrounded by hydrogen flowing from the glass tube. The hot copper reacts with atmospheric oxygen to once again produce the black CuO as soon as the hydrogen flow is interrupted by removal of the glass tube.

Dieser Einfluss äußert sich sowohl im jahreszeitlichen Ablauf der Lebensvorgänge von Tieren und Pflanzen als auch in Verbreitung, Wachstumsgeschwindigkeit und Reproduktionserfolg sowie bei Tieren in Änderungen des Verhaltens. Im einzelnen Fall ist es in der Regel äußerst schwierig, einen direkten Zusammenhang zwischen beobachteten Veränderungen und klimatischen Faktoren nachzuweisen, da neben dem Klima eine Vielzahl weiterer Einflüsse zu beachten ist, und langjährige Datenreihen oft fehlen. Vor allem bei kurzfristigen und kleinräumigen Betrachtungen sind menschliche Einwirkungen wie z.B. Änderungen der Landnutzung, Habitatfragmentierung, Nähr- und Schadstoffeinträge, aber auch Naturschutzmaßnahmen, meist von größerer Bedeutung für die Entwicklung der untersuchten Populationen als das Klima. In individual cases it is generally extremely difficult to demonstrate direct links between observed changes and climatic factors. This is because numerous other factors must be considered in addition to the climate and long-term data sequences are usually absent. Anthropogenic influences such as changes in land use, habitat fragmentation, input of nutrients and pollutants, but also conservation measures are usually of greater importance to the development of the investigated populations than the climate, particularly during short-term observations in limited areas. Furthermore, there is always the possibility that the observed tendencies can be explained by natural fluctuations or adaptive mechanisms. It is therefore only possible to infer definite climatic effects with any certainty once large numbers of observations on different species groups have been made in a number of global regions.
