Les lois betabinomiales sont largement utilisees et ont fait leurs preuves depuis de nombreuses annees dans les modeles de mediaplanning. L'objet de cet article est d'en faire une presentation «intuitive », et principalement d'introduire la representation (p,τ) (audience-dispersion) qui est plus explicite que la classique representation par les coefficients (a, b).
Apres avoir les avoir introduces ä l'aide du paradigme des urnes, on rappelle certaines proprietes classiques des lois beta et des distributions betabinomiales. L'approche audience-dispersion en permet une interpretation plus facile lors de leur utilisation en mediaplanning.
Plusieurs applications pratiques de cette nouvelle approche seront ensuite exposees, tant pour les
logiciels de mediaplanning proprement dits que pour la probabilisations de panels
| Translation - English
For several years, betabinomial distributions have been extensively used with effectiveness in media planning models. The aim of this publication is to present these distributions “intuitively” and mainly to introduce the (p,τ) (audience-dispersion) representation, which is more explicit than the classical one, using the (a, b) coefficients.
In this paper, we first introduce the betabinomials through the ballot-box paradigm. Thereafter, some classical properties of the beta and betabinomial distributions are exposed. The audience-dispersion model approach allows an easier interpretation when used in media planning.
Finally, several practical applications of this new approach are shown for the actual media planning software as well as for panel probabilizations.

Educated in English since 1969, I embarked on translation involving English and Vietnamese at a very early age. My first official translation was a translation from Vietnamese to English of an agricultural document when I was 18. I was awarded the Third National English Award for Grade 12 Students in 1981. My first degree in English was at the University of Saigon, majoring in English and continued my English studies at the University of Queensland, studying English literature, linguistics, French and German and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987. I commenced employment as an administrator, translator/interpreter, and technical/maths typist. I upgraded my skills by enrolling at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), where I took chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, mathematics, statistics, physics and materials science. I completed my Masters of Applied Science from QUT in 2000, my thesis is on thermal degradation of polyvinyl chloride blends and is more than 200 pages. Following this, I worked as a chemistry research assistant, using software/hardware facilities in the laboratory at QUT, then at several pharmaceutical companies. The work has helped me gain extensive experience and technical expertise of chemical, pharmaceutical, medical and engineering-related concepts terminology. My specialization involves pharmaceutical, photonics, optics, mathematical/statistics, medical, literary translations. mathematical, electrical, legal fields. Other documents translated include birth/marriage/divorce certificates as well as work references. The highlights and passion of my translation work is a translation from Middle English to Modern English of the "Beehive of the Romish Church", a 70-page German-English translation on hearing aids and an English article that sums up the major points of this work (both of these receiving acclaim from the client and Studio 1 Solution), 400-500 pages of a German-English pharmaceutical translation, French-English translation on media planning and business statistics and an English-Vietnamese translation of "The Tigers of Saigon" by Mr. Miguel Pereira.
