I am an Oxford graduate with a degree (BA Hons 2:1) in French and Philosophy, with several years of professional and academic translation experience. I have spent 2 years living in Paris, and my areas of expertise are literature, philosophy, photography and advertising.
My language training at Oxford was highly intensive and thorough, and involved weekly translation assignments, vocabulary and grammar lessons. Our translation texts were broadly literary, from various periods and parts of the world, but also included journalistic extracts. My language grades were consistently high throughout the course, and I scored highly in my final translation exams, obtaining a 70% average (or 1st) overall.
I have also worked as a professional proofreader and translator for an Oxford-based reviewing company. The translation projects I was given were a series of government reports from Francophone Africa, and the proofreading projects were mainly business and finance related.
Since then, I have worked as an administrative assistant for the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, and more recently as PA to Directors at an Advertising agency in London. I am currently working as a freelance photographer with experience in wedding and portrait photography, having obtained a diploma in Professional Photography at Speos (Paris Institute of Photography).
More generally, I am hard-working, efficient and accurate, with excellent IT skills. Other interests include film, drama, sport, the environment, and music. | Keywords: Oxford graduate (1st in Translation), freelance translator, literature, advertising, photography, visual arts, business, government documents, philosophy, fast and accurate service |
