I have operated a small translation company since November 2001.
Aside from my studies in the field of modern German literature (I am currently wrapping up work on my master's thesis, entitled "The evolution of the German Bildungsroman, based on the examples Wilhelm Meister, Der grüne Heinrich, Der Nachsommer, Der Zauberberg und Die Blechtrommel", as well as planning my dissertation (which will expand the field of inquiry to include the American and British versions of the Bildungsroman), I have gained agreat deal of expereience in the area oftechnicaltranslation,especiallyin relation to construction projects (such as, most recently, a translation of project specifications for a planned wind park in Germany, a proposal for the takeover of a mid-sized industrial company (also in Germany), andan operation guide for accounting software.
Other Significant Translation Projects:
• three safety courses for industrial application (handling of lasers, radiation and energy)
• a taxonomically organized reference work for the field of zoology (including the translation of the authors' Website)
• a catalog of homeopathic remedies
• documentation on the assay for two new medications
• a booklet featuring descriptions of places of interest and an event calendar (published by the Wels Tourism Association)
• a booklet on the "European Year of Education through Sports“
• a user's guide for bookkeeping software
• a medical device, similar to a dialysis machine, which aids livers function (in this case, French to English)
• two user's guides for security software and one for inventory software
• a restructuring report for a mid-sized company
My typical office hours are 08:00-17:00 CET.
