Payment was late (6 weeks instead of 4 weeks). The explanation I was provided with: the company's e-mail system had changed, AND the person in charge of payments was on a holiday for 2 1/2 weeks (!)

Worked several times for this agency in 2007-2008. Projects and rates were VERY interesting, but payment was late EVERTY SINGLE TIME. I always had to send at least 3 e-mails in order to get paid.

(1) Mit der Annahme erlöschen das Verwandtschaftsverhältnis des Kindes und seiner Abkömmlinge zu den bisherigen Verwandten und die sich aus ihm ergebenden Rechte und Pflichten. Ansprüche des Kindes, die bis zur Annahme entstanden sind, insbesondere auf Renten, Waisengeld und andere entsprechende wiederkehrende Leistungen, werden durch die Annahme nicht berührt; dies gilt nicht für Unterhaltsansprüche.
(2) Nimmt ein Ehegatte das Kind seines Ehegatten an, so tritt das Erlöschen nur im Verhältnis zu dem anderen Elternteil und dessen Verwandten ein.

Source text - English Pragmatic naturalists, despite their explicit affirmation of the reality of natural entities whose existence is not dependent on mind or experience, nevertheless receive censure for failing to be genuine realists. Self-appointed protectors of realism abound, and their high standards demand additional affirmations upon the nature of, and knowledge about, natural entities. Pragmatists have consistently run afoul of such standards, due to their theories of naturalism and scientific method. Pragmatic naturalism developed from an abiding esteem for science and its achievements that was not expressed by most idealisms. But reactions against idealism took a wide variety of forms, and thus realism was a splintered movement from the beginning. While pragmatism was arguing that scientific warrant is measured by a theory’s utility in human efforts to reliably control natural processes, realisms were seeking a way to safeguard science from any entanglement with mind-dependence.

Brazilian professional translator since 1993, living in Germany since 2007 and specializing in terminology of Law, Business/Finance, Philosophy, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management and NGOs.
I adhere to the so-called "native speaker principle", and my target language is always my mother language, Brazilian Portuguese. This means that I do not translate into European Portuguese.
In 1993, after completing a professional education in translation and interpreting, I started working as a freelance English-Portuguese translator. In this language pair, I specialize in terminology of Philosophy, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management and NGOs.
In 1999 I began working with the German-Portuguese language pair and started a 6-year collaboration with a local sworn public translator in Bahia, Brazil. In 2002-2003 I was appointed ad-hoc public sworn translator for German-Portuguese. In this language pair I specialized in legal, Business/Finance, Industrial Engineering and Quality Management terminology.
I also speak Spanish and French and have been trained in terminology of Social Sciences in these languages. However, despite having gathered experience with Spanish-Portuguese legal translation (including a book translation, I focus on just two language pairs, German-Portuguese and English-Portuguese. My strong belief is that a translator gets better over time if he concentrates on just a few languages and subjects.
Apart from technical and legal translations, I've also worked with academic papers/essays, some of which have been published as books by Brazilian publishing houses - see list of translated books here.
